Sea Salt Bath Bomb Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 cup natural sea salt

  • 1 ½ cups baking soda

  • 3⁄4 cup citric acid

  • 2 tbsp dried rose petals or dried citrus fruits

  • 3 tbsp melted coconut oil

  • 25 drops lavender or mandarin essential oil

Directions

First get a bowl to easily mix the baking soda, natural sea salt and citric acid with a spoon. You can use your bare hands during the whole mixing process to work out any clumps.

Use a small cup where you'll mix your melted coconut oil and a total of 20-25 drops of your preferred essential oils. Then carefully drizzle your oils on top of the other dry mixture and combine them together with your hands for approximately 5 minutes. Make sure that both mixtures are combined fully before shaping.

To check if your sea salt bath bombs mixture is ready, squeeze a small portion in your hands. If it doesn't crumble into little pieces, it’s ready to be shaped. If it is still too dry, add a bit more essential oil until it all holds together. Once it’s ready, you can fill a mold or hand mold it to any shape, just be creative!

If you have a mold, take a handful of dry petals and grind them with your fingers. Sprinkle just a tiny bit of your mixture at the bottom of your preferred mold and then add some grinded petals, so that when tipped over, your bath bombs have rose decorations on the top.

Since we didn’t have any molds readily available, we used small glass bowls, which worked great for us. We used a spoon to press the mixture inside the cup evenly then tipped it over on wax paper to let the sea salt bath bombs dry. Repeat until your mixture is finished.

You can pretty much create or use any shape but traditionally, bath bombs are like balls. You can use an ice cream scooper for that instead.

Once they are molded, then it’s time to wait! It will take a few hours for them to completely dry. Once they are dry, you can store the sea salt bath bombs in an airtight bag.

Easy peasy right!?! This easy do-it-yourself project isn’t as intimidating as others but it will require a trip to the store. Your end product will be luxurious — the bomb!
